Joe Sonkin, Chief of Staff at GaggleAmp
Joe Sonkin is the Chief of Staff at GaggleAmp, a marketing technology software company. He shares his experience being part of the Coaching Group as the right hand to the company CEO.
I’ve really enjoyed being part of the group. It gives me a little bit more insight into the end goal of the CEO, and knowing where the end goal is and having a little bit more clarity makes my job a lot easier because my job is to plan how we get from point A to point B.
I think it’s lonely at the top for CEOs oftentimes, and so for them they’re trying to validate their ideas often, and so having their right hand right inside the meeting with them, being able to hear things firsthand alongside him, we can have those discussions after each session that we have.
If a right hand of a CEO were to approach me asking to join the group or not, I would say, “You should definitely join it.” Specifically with the CEO, I think you’ll get the most benefit that way. You more than likely did not become the right-hand man of the CEO if you didn’t complement the skill set or the profile of the CEO, and so having both of you in that session will be really powerful because then you have a 100% view.
One of the biggest transformations that we had this year was around our ICP, which is the Ideal Customer Profile. In working with Victor, he made it very clear the results that we could see from really doubling down on it. We’ve had a very good improvement in our results because we’re focused on what’s the most important for our company, which at the end of the day does boil down to profits, but that’s by way of having our ideal customers.
I really enjoyed working with Victor throughout the sessions. I really appreciate how he’s always open for questions. Also, if we ever have a topic that we want to see covered or whatnot, he’s open to that feedback and ultimately delivers on it, so it’s been really great.
