Kirk Miller, Founder & CEO of DragonFly Athletics
Kirk Miller is the Founder & CEO of DragonFly Athletics, an education-based athletic management platform. He shares how the Coaching Group has helped his company to scale, and enhanced his own personal growth as CEO.
Going from founder-led, from $0 to $1M, from five employees to 10 employees, we were working as a lot of heroes. That worked great when we had five people, 10 people, but once we got to 15 and 20 people, it began to break down, and we were really struggling with the internal dynamics of our teammates.
Being part of this group has given me the confidence to do many of the things that I’ve already had in mind to a degree, but wasn’t sure about, and just listening to Vic’s crystal-clear explanation of all of these individual topics, and putting that together into a whole system, it’s like a breath of fresh air.
I think the biggest impact for myself has just been recognizing that as a founder, I have so much just tribal knowledge that’s inside my head, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone else knows that.
So really focusing on clear, crisp communication with my team has been the number one thing that I think I’ve taken away, overall, just in terms of my personal growth. With my team, it has brought new clarity to them, rather than assuming we’re going after A, when we’re really going after B.
It has just brought a lot of clarity and focus to our sales team, to our account management team, to our engineering team. Being part of this group is probably the best thing that I have done since I founded Dragonfly.
The velocity at which we’re climbing this mountain that we’re on has just begun to accelerate, and it’s so exciting picking up the pace, and starting to truly make real progress to our vision.
